First Glimpse

Against my better judgement, I am posting pics of my unfinished house.  I've had several people ask me, so here they are.

This is our guest room.  My in-laws are coming in this weekend, so I wanted everything to be ready for them.  It's probably the most finished room in the house.

Guest bath

Entry.  I just ordered a rug, so hopefully it will be in before this weekend, but we'll see.  Everything on this table is from my mom's house except the frame.  I've stolen a lot from her this last week...

One of the least finished rooms is our master bedroom.  My mom is finishing up our curtains and we still need bedside lamps, so this pic is just to show you the pretty color we painted it.  We refinished all the furniture ourselves.  I still have to put a dark wax over it to give it some depth, but so far we LOVE our room!  The rocking chair is from my grandparents' front porch from their house in the Mississippi country.  Lots of great memories and it just happens to match!

Living room.  My dad built that entertainment center for us- he's amazing!  Please ignore the too-short curtains... we are going to add a paisley print to the bottom that matches our pillows.

This is my pride and joy.  I am thrilled at how this wall came out.  All of the photos are from our travels to Mexico, Germany, Ireland, and England.  I still have to figure out what to do with the top of the dresser, but I love it so far.  This is the dresser from our old bedroom and we're using it as our DVD storage.  All our old furniture is being put to good use.

And there you have it... a few pics to tide you over until I get everything finished and cleaned up for this weekend.  I hope you like what I've done so far!

It's Raining Cats & Dogs

I don't have pics yet of the house, although it is almost completely decorated.  My mom is sewing curtains for our master bedroom and our living room and I still need a few more decorations before it's done.

In the mean time... here are some pictures of Halloween at my office.  The first one is of my amazing assistants, and the second is everyone in the office.  Our theme was 'it's raining cats and dogs.'  I LOVE my job!!

Master Bedroom

After buying (and shipping) 2 other Pottery Barn duvets, we finally decided on this beauty.  Surprisingly, this is Jordan's favorite- who would have thought pheasants were his thing?  Of course, by the time we decided on it, they no longer had it online and we had to ship it from San Antonio (go figure, right?).  We bought a whole new bedroom suit for under $900 and are refinishing it.  I forgot to take before pics, so you'll probably see after pics only.  All of it will be painted really crisp ivory and the walls will be the blue from the duvet.  Hopefully it all turns out beautifully!!

Unfortunately, PB was also out of any curtains, pillows, etc. in the print... except shower curtains!  I bought 2 of these bad boys (on sale) and am making a valance and shams.  I don't know how to sew, but my mom's supposed to teach me... wish me luck!

The best news is... We close next Tuesday!!  I can't wait to decorate a whole new house!

S'mores Bites

S'mores Bites... need I say more???

The girls at work and I have deemed Fridays "Fat Friday" and we take turns bringing yummy, but bad-for-you, food.  I don't know why this popped in my head, but I came up with it, and they turned out a-mazing.  Super easy!

Dip marshmellows in chocolate (I used the candy chocolate in the wedding cake aisle) and immediately roll in a mixture of graham cracker crumbs and sugar.  Set these on a plate with chocolate face down (like in the pic).  Put them in the fridge to cool and harden the chocolate.  Take a lighter and burn the tops.

That's it!  I did the entire bag in less than 30 mins.  The girls at work LOVED them!  They all are taking samples home to their kids.  I also think it would be super cute to put them on a pretzel stick so it looks like a stick out of the yard.

Seeing Red... in my Dining Room

Please excuse the ghetto Photoshopping... but hopefully you'll get the idea.  This is our dining room:

We are for sure painting the walls red, but what do you think about the gold/yellow ceiling and inset window area?  It wouldn't this bright, but I was working with what I had.

These dishes from World Market are my inspiration.  The definitely mesh with the rest of my kitchen and living room decorations, and I love the colors.

I want to add a modern/whimsical rug like the one below to keep the dining room from getting too formal.  I already have some yellow houndstooth fabric that I had planned on making throw pillows with, so this is perfect.

What do you think???  I'd love to know your opinions on the yellow paint- yay or nay??

Home Sweet Home

Great news!  We bought a house!!  We're under contract, anyway... we close on October 19th.  We could not be happier with how things turned out, and can't wait to start our lives in our new home!

The rest of the pictures are from the builder.  It's a brand new house and has all the upgrades we could ever want.  3 beds, 2.5 baths, and a gameroom upstairs.  Our only complaint is the teeny tiny backyard, but since Paisley is a teeny tiny dog, it should work out just fine!  The best part is that it is 5 mins from both of our works (which also means it's super close to my parents house, which is awesome).
