Remember When...?

Remember when you were a little kid and your mom curled your hair because you were too young? I think all of us have experienced the dreaded mom-burn, where our moms told us to be still and we weren't, so somehow we ended up charred. I have had many of these burns in my day, mainly because you don't get hair like this without a lot of rollers and curling irons (Thank you 80's). It's bound to happen...
What you don't expect is to burn yourself as an adult. Maybe a little ouchy, but nothing too severe. Well, not me. Apparently my mad hand skills in dentistry do not transfer to being mad hair curling skills.
I found the exact thing I need! Whoever invented this is a GENIUS!! Who cares if it looks like elf ears gone wrong when your ears are safe from harms way!?

Let's just hope I have boys.

Speaking of which (no, not me... yikes)- - congratulations to Ben and Jaime on their little GIRL!! Hopefully Jaime will be much better at curling hair than I (or my mom) am!

Awesome

Jordan and I had the best weekend! It started with the fact that I didn't have to study! Always a plus. When I got out of school on Friday, Jill and I went to see 'New Moon'. I don't care about what anybody says, it was really good. I thought it was a lot better than the first movie (which I guess isn't saying much, but whatever). Taylor Lautner is such a little hottie! That's all I'm going to say b/c I know certain people who read my blog get super annoyed when I talk about Twilight...
Saturday was the big day... the UT game!! And even bigger because it was Beck's 5th birthday party!! We left for the game around 3 and got there in perfect time. We actually got really lucky with our parking and got to walk through campus. I had never been on campus, so it was really cool to see everything. It's just a little bit bigger than Hardin-Simmons... We got to the stadium with an hour til kickoff, so we got to just walk around and take our time. It was Senior Night, so they honored all of the senior players, trainers, and camera crew. After a few times of all the cheers, I got them down and was able to do them with all the other fans. I felt like I could claim some camaraderie because I go to UT Dental School. My diploma with say University of Texas at the top, so maybe it counts...? [Side note: The fact that we are getting to be old is apparent to us all the time. When I see young girls wearing inappropriate things, I want to slap them, or when kids are smoking, I want to give them a lecture. I still feel like I am in college, but I'm really not. Professional school is on a whole different level, even if I don't always feel grown up. The students all looked 15 to me, so I guess that's just something we've got to get used to. Ugh! We are the old farts now.] We stayed the whole game (which took forever..) and didn't get home until 1:15am, but it was totally worth it. We had so much fun!! Jordan loved his present!

Moving Time

Jordan and I are in need of a couple of things for our big move in January, and we wanted to see if you guys could help. The first thing we need are boxes! We're going to try to pack up a little at a time so we don't have to do it all over Christmas break. Then, once we move, we need a few things for our house. If you have any of these things that you want to get rid of for super cheap, please let me know:
-any kind of storage cabinets/shelves
-twin bed
-bookshelves
-lawn mower/weed eater
I know those are big items, but they all get old and have to be tossed, sold, or given away at some point... and we'll take just about anything.

Date Night

Last night Jordan and I went on a very very nice date for the first time since our anniversary last December. We at at Houston Street Bistro, and then went to the Majestic Theater to see Riverdance! I know what you're thinking, "Riverdance?! Really?! That's so stupid and corny!" Well, it's not. I went a couple of years ago and it took my breath away. If you know us at all, you know we love Ireland and all that's related. Music is a huge passion of Jordan's, so I knew he would appreciate the show. It is so much more than dancing- there is a lot of beautiful music and singing as well. A lot of people make fun of it, but I don't really understand that, because it is just like going to the ballet or symphony or any other performing arts show. If anything, it is more amazing because the dancing is something beyond anything you can imagine. Think of how many ballerinas there are in the world - - a lot. I don't know of many Irish dancers. I would fall on my face within one sec of trying to dance like that! We had some of the worst seats, but it was still incredible. I hadn't been to the Majestic yet, and I loved it- it is so beautiful! I can't wait to take my mom there sometime. We had the best time getting all dressed up and going to a nice dinner and a show!

Halloween!!!

I love Halloween!! Jordan and I LOVE dressing up and spent 2-3 hours in Good Will last week getting our costumes together.
Last week we had our church's Trunk of Treats, where we decorated the back of our car like a touristy something-or-another and passed out candy. There were so many cute themes for cars, we'll definitely have to think of something better next year. I realized too late that we didn't get any pics with our niece and nephews, so that stinks, but they sure were cute!! By the way, I look exactly like my mom circa 1990 minus the dorky clothes. But yes, the hair and maybe even the pleats. The 90's were a bad time for everyone.
Friday night we went to a party with my dental school friends. Once again, we rocked the dorky tourist personas and had a blast! Here we have a Girl Scout, Elle Woods, Cruella Deville, and Barbie. Without these lovely ladies, dental school would be unbearable!

Our Honeymooners class had a party up at the church with some de-licious food and pumpkin carving. Jordan did a good job gutting it and then I drew out our master plan. I thought it was fitting since the Horns were playing an important game- I bet our pumpkin brought them luck- ha!! We didn't win the pumkin-carving contest, but that's ok.

Right after our church party we headed over to Jordan's co-workers' house to hang out with his friends. He is dressed up as a character from the movie, "The Hangover" and I am dressed up as the tiger that tries to eat him. 'Tigers love pepper, they hate Cinnamon.'

And here we are giving our little pumpkin-head some much needed lovin' after a long night of being by herself.
