Neato

I know I posted pics from last month where my dad and I made concrete countertops... but they didn't work out, so here are our new and improved countertops. We changed our technique and color and they came out beautifully! We are halfway done with my parent's kitchen, and we will finish it this coming week with the help of Jordan. Don't worry, they will take down the awful wallpaper. My mom is also going to distress the cabinets so they aren't so stark against the dark counters. I can't wait to see the finished product!!

Movie Time
Up 3D- eehhhh... I love me some cartoon kiddy movies, but this is not one of them. Kind of depressing and boring.
Henry Poole is Here- super depressing. Do NOT see it unless you like extremely dark comedies. Ones with very little comedy...
X-Men: Wolverine- another great action movie. Who doesn't like Hugh Jackman?!? I wasn't a huge fan of the first 3 X-Men movies b/c they were really hokey, but this one isn't at all. I made Jordan go see it and he ended up really liking it.
Terminator Salvation- very good action sequences. Jordan didn't like it as much as I did, but I thougth it was great. The CGI is amazing, as are the stunts and action! I'm not a huge Christian Bale fan (well, not at all), but there's another character that I could add to my "list"- Sam Worthington. Next on our list: Transformers, Public Enemy, Wolfman, Sherlock Holmes, Hope Floats (Jordan has never seen it and he loves Harry Conick, Jr.)

Food Friday
After many tries at making the cupcakes, I decided to try another approach. She is a fellow dental student, and I have cookie cutters in the shape of a tooth and a toothbrush, so I thought I had the perfect idea. Wrong again.
Hideous, I know. I had already used up all my white candy melts and had made them pink, but the pink turned out looking gross. I couldn't get the candy melted enough to where it would make a smooth finish, and they cooled way too quickly, and that's what I got. I had some red candy melts and some food coloring, so I thought I would try from scratch to make more coating. My bright idea was to mix the yellow into the red and get orange- - right? That's what you're supposed to get, right?
That's when I gave up. I just threw it all away and texted my friend and told her I was sorry that I couldn't bring her yummy goodness. At least Jordan didn't mind cleaning up some of the screw-ups for me!
The moral of the story is: go to Bakerella.com. And don't expect my kids to have really cute birthday cakes.

Choices, Choices
There is nothing Paisley loves more than a pin light. If Jordan or I so much as go near the counter where it is, she flips out. I also love playing with a toy with her b/c she is so cute when she tries to tug at it. For some reason I decided halfway through our toy-playing that I wanted to switch over to the pin light. I thought she would just drop the toy and go after the light, but instead she chased the light with the toy still in her mouth. It was SO cute!! She just couldn't choose between the two, so why not both?

Fun Food Friday!!
1/4 c. honey
1/4 c. brown sugar
2 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp lemon juice
2 cloves garlic
It was amazing!!
The second is a random idea to spice up oatmeal, which is hard to do. I eat plain oatmeal in the morning, usually with Splenda to give it flavor. I recently heard the idea to put yogurt in it from a family friend, and I love it! I use the WW yogurt and use about 1/4 of the container. It gives the oatmeal just enough flavor to make it oh so yummy. Then I eat the rest of the yogurt. 2 points for breakfast, you can't beat that!
Lastly I'm going to share our dinner for tomorrow night. I get the Kraft magazine quarterly, which has tons of good recipes in it, but usually super fatening. I'm going to make meatloaf, but a much healthier way. I never had meatloaf as a kid. Literally- I've only had it maybe twice in my life. Jordan, however, loves it, so I'm going to try it.
2 lb ground turkey breast (99/1)
1 pkg (6oz) Stove Top Stuffing Mix for Chicken
1 c. water
1/2 c. egg beaters (equals 2 eggs)
1/2 cup Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce
I'm excited to see how it turns out!

New Moon Trailer
Speaking of movies, here is a list of all the movies I've seen lately and my opinion:
Taken- amazing. Disturbing, but amazing.
Yes, Man- Jordan and I thought it was hilarious!
Bedtime Stories- cute, but still sub-par.
Miss Pedigrue Lives for a Day- soo cute! I had never heard of it, but I saw it with Traci and loved it!
The Sentinel- very good. The ending is a little anti-climatic, but it was still good.
New in Town- SO cute! Jordan and I love Harry Conick, Jr and he didn't disappoint.
Paul Blart: Mail Cop- stupid. It is PG and I just don't think Jordan and I are in that stage. I think if you've been watching PG movies with your kids, you'd like it. We just thought it was creepy that his g/f is half his age...
Stranger than Fiction- very good dark comedy. Don't go into it thinking Will Ferrell is going to be his usual hilarious self. It is more serious, but so good.
Eye See You- my mom picked out this serial killer thriller starring Sylvester Stallone. I was very defiant at first, but it actually ending up being really good. If you like that kind of thing...
