Please make sure to partake in my poll.
We just had this conversation in class. Our professor told us we need to address patients' weight (if they are obese) in regard to their oral health. One of my fellow students asked how to go about doing that without offending the patient. Her response was: "would you address their diabetes? or heart disease? Then you should treat obesity as a disease and talk to them about it. They view you as a 'doctor' and will respect your opinion."
My response to this is: "YEAH RIGHT! We are told all the time that we aren't 'real' doctors! A person would freak out if we started talking to them about losing weight!"
Am I correct?? Please let me know- - my classmates and I are curious!
